Live Show

Where The Branches Begin

Described as “brilliant and fascinating music” by Jamie Cullum, the David Duffy Quartet explores ambient electronic jazz with a distinctly Scandinavian influence. Intricate compositions, shifting time signatures, and lush textures blur the lines between contemporary classical, jazz, electronica, and post-rock—creating what BBC Music Magazine called “thoroughly captivating.” The international lineup features:

  • David Duffy (IRL) – electronics, double bass & electric bass
  • Marc Martin (CAT) – piano
  • Emil Nerstrand (SWE) – saxophone & clarinet
  • Davy Ryan (IRL) – drums

Their live show goes beyond a standard concert—blending lighting, visuals, and poetry into an immersive journey through altered states, birth, and the search for meaning. Drawing on his theatre background, David brings a rare depth to the stage.

Their debut album, Where the Branches Begin (Jazzville Records), received critical acclaim and airplay on RTÉ Radio 1, BBC, and Jazz FM.

David has headlined prestigious national and international festivals, including Cork Jazz, Dublin Fringe, SONAR, and Cork Film Festival.

The project is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, and David performs on an instrument funded by Music Network.
